The Problem

Old website was not responsive and was built on a Chinese CRM platform that was hard to maintain and difficult to find inforamtion. Images were placed incorrectly and menus were hard to find in the website.

The Goal

Redesign Spices Fremont website to increase page views and engagement with better information hierarchy, relevant content, and responsive display.

Solutions

Reorganize categories of the menu and create hierarchy of the information.

Update imagery and display pictures responsively.

Tell the story of the restaurant and the culture behind the food to draw engagement and bookings.

Build website with native codes so it is easy to maintain and make updates.

Impact after launch

Summary

Page views per day increased from less than 10 to over 800.

Each user has an average 5-min stay on the website which significantly decreased bounce rate.

The website is more accessible from both the search engine (nearly 50%) and social media (30%), and across multiple devices including desktop, tablet, and mobile phones.

Highlights

Re-structured the long menu with over 80 dishes and 10+ categories of food in the navigation and made information easy to find. Customers pulled out their phone to check the menu in store and said they loved using the menu from the website.

Indicators of spicy level helped customers make decisions of what to order.

Pictures help explain what the dish is about in a visual way when the translated menu does not make sense to non-Chinese customers.
